Press release
Originally rooted in the soil of Friesland, blues-rock trio The Backwoods has re-formed in Würzburg a decade after it was founded – with a new line-up and fresh momentum. Their explosive sound builds a bridge from the vintage blues rock of the sixties (think Jimi Hendrix) straight into the present day (think Wolfmother).
Blues for old men? Not a chance! With Chris on guitar, an energetic mix of blues, rock and funk unfolds: soaring solos send the audience on a psychedelic journey before heavy riffs bring them straight back down to earth. Together with bassist Daniel he forms the vocal backbone of the band – their songs put society’s contrasts in a nutshell. The trio is completed by Alex on drums, whose precise, driving punch makes sure these “backwoodsmen” keep pushing relentlessly forward.
